Syllabus and Calendar Questions

  2. I am curious about the E-pals assignment. I see that it will be with junior high students and I was just wondering why we will be doing this age and group?
    Also like Heather, I would like to know what the text-talk lesson is about?

  3. I am interested in knowing more about what to write in our journals during our practicum. I am very excited about practicum and being in a school outside of Watauga County. I am also curious about our midterm and final exam and what both of those assignments entail.

  4. I have looked over the syllabus and have a couple of questions. Do we answer the core questions on a piece of paper, or are we just responsible for generating answers to discuss in class? Also, do we answer the practicum questions in a journal or do we post our answers to them on the class blog?

  6. I, like Shelby, would also like to know if we just blog the core questions for each day or write them down elsewhere? Also, I was wondering if there was any type of group work that we will be doing in this course or will it all be individual work?

  11. I, like others, have wondered if we are supposed to blog answers to the core questions for each reading, or if we are just supposed to think about them before the class meeting. Also, I was wondering what kind of material will be on our exams. Will it cover lecture, the readings or a combination of both?

My question is when we do have an upcoming test will there be a review sheet of some sort? or will we be able to go over the readings in class so we will have an idea of what to expect on the test? Another question I have is, is there a time when we will work in groups? If so will we be able to pick our groups?

  19. My question is like others, why do you have read aloud and then a person's name beside it? Are we going to be reading in front of the class? And also like Hannah I was looking at the E-pals assignment and why we are working with such a higher age group?

  20. There seems to be a lot of readings out of the book. Will these readings be able to address many concerns? If not then will we be discussing some concerns (issues we may run into) about teaching young children how to read in class? I find that it is most helpful when I learn from experience or someone else's experience to give me an idea of what to expect. Also do we need to bring our book to class every day?

I keep hearing everyone talk about Practicum, but I have yet to know what exactly it is and what all we will be doing during it.

  26. I have a few questions about our practicum? What exactly will we be doing at the schools during practicum? Will we be discussing what we are doing on the blog or in an actual journal? Also, when we answer the core questions during our readings, do we need to turn something in or are they there as food for thought for an in class discussion?
